Bowie Tops Akron, Keeps Pace With Harrisburg
Baysox roll to 7-3 with over Aeros, stay 1 1/2 games behind Harrisburg but now lead Richmond by 2 1/2.

Brandon Waring hit a two-run homer and drove in three runs while Joe Mahoney knocked in three of his own as Bowie rolled to a 7-3 victory over Akron Wednesday night.
The win improved Bowie's record to 71-59 and kept it 1 1/2 games behind first-place Akron in the Western Division. The Baysox also got some good news when Richmond lost, stretching Bowie's lead for the final playoff spot to 2 1/2 games with 12 to play.
Waring's two-run homer came in the first inning. Mahoney got a two-run double in the first for a quick 4-0 lead. Ronnie Welty added a solo homer in the second while Waring banged out an RBI double in the third for a 6-0 led.

Zach Clark (9-8) battled through control troubles in five-plus innings but got the win. Clark gave up three runs on five hits despite striking out two and walking four.
The Bowie bullpen took over after Clark walked the first two batters in the sixth and slammed the door. Akron didn't get another base-runner after that.
