Bowie Wastes Early Four-Run Leads, Loses Fourth Straight

Richmond rallies to beat Baysox, 8-5, pulls to within one-half game of Bowie for final playoff spot.

The Baysox couldn't hold an early four-run lead and dropped their fourth straight game Wednesday night as Richmond rallied for an 8-5 victory.

The loss dropped Bowie (67-56) to just one-half game ahead of Richmond for the Western Division's final playoff spot. There's 18 games remaining for Bowie, but Richmond (66-56) also has a game in hand. 

Bowie scored four runs in the top of the first. The big hit was Joe Mahoney's three-run triple as Bowie took a 4-0 lead.

But the lead lasted just five batters as Richmond scored four times in the first. Charlie Culberson blasted a three-run homer off starter Bobby Bundy (1-2) to help Richmond rally.

Bowie could get just one run on four hits the rest of the way. Richmond took the lead in the second and never trailed again. The two teams meet again tomorrow night.
