Carjacker in Stolen SUV Hits Cop, Kills Driver in Crash: Police
A Washington, D.C., man on probation allegedly ran from police and caused a crash that killed a driver, Prince George's County Police say.

A carjacker on probation was reportedly driving a stolen SUV Thursday night when he hit a police officer, then fled from police, causing a fatal crash, authorities say.
The Prince George’s County Police Department says the suspect is 22-year-old Larry Donnell Hinson of the 2700 block of Robinson Place in Southeast Washington.

About 8:30 p.m. Thursday, an officer stopped Hinson’s vehicle in the 3600 block of Branch Avenue. During the stop, Hinson sped away striking and injuring a Prince George’s County Police officer.
The injured officer and two other officers tried to catch up to Hinson, who reportedly crashed into multiple cars in the 3100 block of Branch Avenue. One of the drivers -- Charlie Viverett, 60, of Flame Leaf Court in Clinton – died from injuries he suffered in the crash.

Police say after the crash Hinson jumped out of his stolen SUV and ran from the area. Officers set up a perimeter and found Hinson about 30 minutes later hiding underneath a car.
Hinson is charged with first- and second-degree assault on a police officer, auto theft, theft over $1,000, unauthorized use of a vehicle and traffic related offenses. Additional charges are possible.
Hinson is on probation for armed carjacking in Prince George’s County. Investigators are in the process of having his probation violated.
