DC Woman Hits Huge Lotto Jackpot In PG County

The woman scored big with a $20 scratch-off in Oxon Hill.

OXON HILL, MD -- A D.C. woman is celebrating today after scoring a $50,000 Maryland lottery jackpot with a $20 scratch-off.

The 38-year-old D.C. resident, who was not named, chose a 100x the Cash instant ticket at the Giant #341 in Oxon Hill. She was initially there to shop for butter, milk, and eggs, but decided to pick up something extra.

“I walked into the grocery store, saw the (Lottery vending) machine and someone was at it and said, ‘Nah,’” she said according to a Maryland Lottery statement. “As I was walking past it, while leaving, no one was there so I said, ‘Why not!’

“I was scratching the ticket and saw the first number matched mine,” she continued. “I saw I won $50 and said, ‘All right, I made my gas money back!’ I continued to scratch off the rest of the ticket and the second number matched another one of my numbers. I saw I won $1,000 and I said, ‘Ok, now.’ By the time I got to the end of the ticket, I won $50,000 and just put my hand on my head in shock and awe.”

The 100x the Cash game offers prizes of up to $1,000,000, and there are three remaining top prizes available, as well as four more $50,000 prizes and 23 $10,000 prizes.
