Elderly Man on Bicycle Struck and Killed in College Park
Robert Dickey, 77, was reportedly trying to cross after the light had turned green.
COLLEGE PARK, MD — An elderly man who was riding his bicycle through an intersection was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
Robert Dickey, 77, of Southeast D.C. was riding in the 4600 block of Paint Branch Parkway at around 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 12 when a car struck him in the crosswalk, police said in their report.
"The preliminary investigation reveals the involved car was stopped at a red traffic signal on Paint Branch Parkway," the statement notes. "Dickey was riding his bicycle in the crosswalk and attempting to cross the street. When the traffic signal turned green, the driver pulled forward and struck Dickey."

Dickey was taken to the hospital, but he died several hours later. The driver remained on the scene.
