Family Searches for Clues in Shooting Death; $25K Reward Offered

The July murder of a Waldorf man in Accokeek will be revisited Wednesday night by his family and police officers.

ACCOKEEK, MD — A murder victim’s family will join police Wednesday night to seek information in the July 12 shooting death of a Waldorf man.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit will hand out flyers in the Accokeek neighborhood seeking new leads in the case. The canvass is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. in the 15700 block of Hickory Knoll Road in Accokeek.

Daryl Sylvester King Jr., 20, of Dorset Drive in Waldorf was fatally shot on that block this summer. When police arrived, they found King outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He died a short time later at a hospital.

Authorities say King was shot shortly after leaving a nearby party. Detectives are working to identify a motive and a suspect(s) in the homicide.

Detective Ben Brown and King’s family will talk to the public and media Wednesday night as police officers pass out Crime Solvers flyers seeking information in the investigation.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered to find the suspects who shot and killed King.
