Flood Warning Issued for Bowie
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning in Prince George's County.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the city of Bowie, with minor to moderate flooding possible along the Patuxent River due to floodwaters from Saturday night's rain. The flood warning will last until 5:15 p.m. Sunday for Bowie, Crofton and other areas along the Patuxent River.
The warning stems from concerns about the rain that fell last night in Howard County. Authorities suspect that floodwaters may move down the river into Prince George's County late this afternoon.
"The potential for flooding will continue through tomorrow afternoon," the Bowie city government wrote on their Facebook page. "The most vulnerable areas in Bowie are near the bridge on Governor's Bridge Road and near the intersection of Route 3 and Route 450."

The city of Bowie will continue to monitor the situation through the night and may issue further alerts. With more rain expected on Sunday, residents are advised to say alert.
"The scenes from Ellicott City and other places in Howard County are an important reminder that floods come on suddenly, the water moves extremely quickly, and can destroy anything in its path," the statement adds. "It only takes six inches of water on a roadway to float a car. If you have any doubt about deep the water is on a roadway, turn around, don’t drown."
