Guns, Ammo, Body Armor Found In Suspect's Vehicle

A suspect is in custody after police say someone fired a gun near police from the car, fled the scene and crashed into other vehicles.

GREENBELT, MD — A report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Greenbelt Station Parkway eventually led to the recovering of two guns, ammunition and body armor from the suspect's vehicle.

The incident unfolded shortly before 7 p.m. on Jan. 15. Police found the vehicle matching the description of the one reported as suspicious. Someone in that vehicle fired a gun, then took off heading eastbound on Greenbelt Road. Officers engaged in a pursuit, according to the Greenbelt Police.

The suspicious vehicle then crashed into other vehicles at the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Cunningham Drive. The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. No one else involved in the crash suffered major injuries. Officers recovered two firearms, ammunition and body armor from the suspect’s vehicle, the police department noted.
