Election Day is finally behind us, so it's time to start looking forward to Thanksgiving here in Bowie.

BOWIE, MD — With Halloween and Election Day behind us, our thoughts now turn to the holidays, starting with Thanksgiving, and all that activities that often accompany it. Here's what's going on in Bowie over the next few weeks, according to a statement from the city.

Nov. 12 - 100 Games for Going Green

"Recycling can be fun! Come to the 100 Games for Going Green Centennial Event on November 12 from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Bowie Gym. Youth will use recyclable materials and turn them into different kinds of game balls. The balls then will be used to play 100 games during the day. There will be 80 individual challenge games and 20 group games. Games are designed for ages 3 to 10. Material offerings of yarn, 5-inch square fabric remnants, 5-inch lengths of narrow fabric (1 to 2 inches wide), stuffing to make sock balls, plastic grocery bags, and newspapers are much appreciated. To sign up or to donate materials, contact John Dutrow at 301-325-9166 or John.Dutrow@verizon.net. This event is hosted by the Community Recreation, Green Team, and Environmental Advisory Committees.
