Hit-And-Run Victim Identified, Suspect In Mini-Cooper Sought: Prince George's Police

A hit-and-run victim has been identified in a deadly weekend crash while police continue to search for the suspect driving a Mini-Cooper.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Maryland State Police are searching for the driver of a Mini-Cooper believed to be involved in a fatal hit and run crash that happened Saturday morning in Prince George's County.

Stephen Marquel Thompson, 23, of Washington, D.C., was hit and killed shortly before 2 a.m. Sept. 23 on the southbound side of I-495 in the area of Ritchie Marlboro Road. Emergency medical service personnel from Prince George’s County Fire Department responded and pronounced Thompson dead on the scene.

Information developed by State Police Crash Team investigators indicates the suspected vehicle was a 2009 – 2014 Mini Cooper. A preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking on the southbound side of I-495, south of Ritchie Marlboro Road in lane 3, when the crash happened. Investigators believe the striking vehicle sustained damage to the right front end as a result of the crash.
