Huge Back to School Fair Coming to PG County Soon
Get everything from immunizations to free backpacks at the Aug. 6 event.

It's time for the annual "Back-to-School Fair" in Prince George's County, and you're invited.
The Prince George's County Public Schools Back-to-School Fair takes place on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and the immunization clinic will be open from 8 a.m. until noon, according to a statement. The event will take place at the Show Place Arena at 14900 Pennsylvania Avenue in Upper Marlboro.
It's the sixth year of the fair, which aims to help parents and students prepare for the upcoming school year. Representatives from the school, county agencies and local businesses will be on hand to share important information.

The event will also feature the "Backpack Giveaway."
"School-age youth will receive a ticket for a free backpack when they arrive at the fair," the statement notes. "Families must visit a school, office and vendor display and have representatives mark the ticket in the designated space. Tickets can be redeemed at the Backpack Giveaway station. Only one backpack will be available for each child on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Students must attend the fair to receive a free backpack."

The immunization clinic is being hosted by the Maryland Partnership for Prevention and PGCPS Health Services, which will provide free vaccinations to incoming students for kindergarten, 7th grade and 9th grade.
