DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — Everyone is OK after a brief scare in District Heights when drippings from a Thanksgiving turkey sent firefighters into action. As it turns out, it didn't even ruin Thanksgiving dinner, as the turkey was unscathed despite the chaos.
Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady tweeted just after 9 a.m. Thursday that firefighters were responding to a report of a "turkey fire in the oven" in the 3300 block of Walters Lane in District Heights.

Shortly after, Brady tweeted that despite the emergency, "Thanksgiving Dinner is still on." As it turned out, a "nervous" home chef had some of the drippings from the turkey boil over, creating "some sizzle and smoke but no fire."
So it looks like one Prince George's County family has something to be very, very thankful for today.
