The Hyattsville Police Department has added a K9 named Hugo, a Belgian Shepherd Malinois, to the force.

HYATTSVILLE, MD — The Hyattsville Police Department has recruited the cutest four-legged officer to its family.
K9 Hugo is a Belgian Shepherd Malinois, born in the Netherlands Nov. 9, 2022. Hugo was selected on Jan. 4 to be trained as a dual-purpose canine, meaning he is trained as both a patrol dog and as a detection dog. He graduated from the Prince George's County Police Canine Patrol School, according to the Hyattsville Police Department.
While in patrol school, K9 Hugo and his training companions, Cpls. Quevedo and Hodges, competed at the Capitol K9 trials at Joint Base Andrews and achieved first place in one of the courses when K9 Hugo hadn't even graduated school yet, the HPD shared on Facebook.
