Kitten Abused in Greenbelt, Found with Electrical Cord Wrapped Around its Neck: Report

The kitten reportedly survived six days before being rescued.

GREENBELT, MD — Authorities are investigating after someone apparently tried to electrocute and kill a kitten that ended up surviving for six days in a storage room before being rescued, according to a report.

WJLA reports that the kitten was found at an apartment building in the Franklin Park community. A resident saw an electrical cord wrapped around its neck and called authorities. Animal control was called to rescue the kitten from the locked storage room.

The apartment building is located in the 6100 block of Springhill Lane. The kitten was discovered on Dec. 9, according to a statement from Greenbelt Police.

The kitten was also covered with feces and urine, according to the report. The cord was wrapped several times around the kitten's neck and was plugged into a wall outlet.
