Laurel Man Dies from Injuries Suffered in October Crash

Prince George's County Police are trying to determine what caused Reinhard Schmidt to lose control of his motorcycle.

A Laurel man died this week from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident last month, according to Prince George’s County Police.

The victim is Reinhard Schmidt, 57, of Shadow Park Drive in Laurel.

Police say Schmidt crashed his motorcycle about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the intersection of Old Gunpowder Road and Minnick Road in Laurel. Schmidt suffered critical injuries in the accident and died on Nov. 3 at the hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Investigators say Schmidt was southbound on Old Gunpowder Road when he lost control of his motorcycle. Police are still trying to determine what caused him to lose control.
