Laurel Man Leads Police on 22-Mile Chase: Report
Police finally arrested the suspect in Southeast D.C. Tuesday night.
LAUREL, MD — A Laurel man is behind bars after leading police on a 22-mile chase that started in the town of Laurel and ended in Washington, D.C., according to a report from the town.
Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, a Laurel police officer recognized the suspect's white SUV and tags from an incident that happened in the town on Feb. 18, so the officer tried to stop the SUV, the report states.
However, the driver fled, and police pursued the vehicle onto Interstate 295, when the U.S. Park Police joined in the chase. The pursuit ended in the 2900 block of P Street SE, and the suspect was arrested.

The suspect faces "numerous traffic and criminal charges," the report states.
Police are withholding the suspect's name, and did not say why. He is being held at the Prince George's County Detention Center in advance of a bond hearing.
