Man Arrested for Arson After Upper Marlboro Blaze Damages 3 Townhouses: Police

Authorities have charged 28-year-old Aaron Christopher Davis with arson and attempted murder.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Police have arrested a man in connection with a fire that broke out at a home on Dunloring Drive earlier this month and caused a huge amount of damage to two others.

Prince George's County firefighters responded to a townhouse fire in the 11500 block of Dunloring Drive at around 12:30 p.m. on April 3, and found that fire was showing on all three levels of the home, according to a report from the Prince George's County Fire Department.

"Fire extended to and damaged two additional townhouse before being extinguished," the report states. "Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the fire. Both were treated and released from a hospital."

The blaze caused $320,000 in damage. Eight adults and one child were displaced.

Personnel from the Department's Office of the Fire Marshall, with assistance from local police, identified 28-year-old Aaron Christopher Davis as the man behind the fire, and charged him with first-degree arson and attempted first-degree murder, the report notes.

Video from a nearby security camera appears to show Davis in the vicinity when the fire broke out, authorities say.

The report states: "Fire Investigators are continuing to seek information about this incident including additional suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Arson Tip Line at 301-77-ARSON (301-772-7766). Callers may remain anonymous."
