Man Arrested In Deadly PG County Shooting: Police

Police say the man, who knew the victim, shot him in a robbery.

LANHAM, MD -- A man is behind bars in connection with a fatal shooting in Lanham earlier this month.

Police were called to the 6500 block of Manton Way at around 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 3 to a report of a shooting, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police identified the victim as 28-year-old Anthony Freelance of D.C. They have since arrested 26-year-old Madani Tejan of Largo.

"Officers discovered Freeland outside on a sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene," the report states. "During the course of their investigation, detectives identified Tejan as the suspect. The preliminary investigation reveals Tejan shot the victim during a robbery. The suspect and victim were acquaintances."

Tejan faces a charge of first degree murder. He is being held without bond.
