Man Arrested In Skating Rink Security Guard's Fatal Shooting: Prince George's Police
A Washington, D.C., man has been arrested and charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a skating rink security guard last month.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 27-year-old Washington, D.C., man has been charged with fatally shooting 31-year-old Eugene Smith, also of Washington, D.C., outside a Prince George's County roller skating rink where Smith worked as a security guard.
According to the Prince George's County Police, officers were called to the DMV All Skate Social on Branch Avenue in Temple Hills for a report of a shooting shortly before midnight Feb. 23. Officers found Smith, who was off-duty at the time, in front of the roller skating rink with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives believe Omar Delonte Smith shot Smith because of an employment dispute.

"This is a guy that works in the community six days a week, and then comes here. This guy is not just some regular person. This guy is boots on the ground in the community every day just trying to help ... I did everything that we could do to make this place a safe haven, and I stand on that, and I will continue to put in more security measures," Wiggins said. "But when they kill your head of security, how much can you do?"
