Man, Woman Killed In Crash With Stolen Kia: Prince George's Police

A man and a woman were killed when a stolen Kia crashed into their vehicle, according to Prince George's Police.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A man and a woman were killed Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run involving a stolen Kia.

On Aug. 23 around 2:30 a.m., Prince George's County police officers responded to the area of Landover Road and Old Landover Road for a crash involving two vehicles. A preliminary investigation showed an unidentified driver in a Kia was heading northbound on Landover Road when the Kia crashed into a second vehicle that was attempting to turn left onto southbound Landover Road. The Kia and the second vehicle, a Toyota Camry, caught on fire. The driver of the Kia ran from the crash scene. The driver and passenger in the Toyota died on the scene, according to the police department.

It was later determined by police that the Kia had been stolen from a home in Upper Marlboro hours prior to the crash. So far in 2023, there have been 827 Kias reported stolen in the county. The PGPD has arrested 176 people in connection with the theft of Kias and Hyundais this year. Of those, 51 are adults and 125 are teens.
