MD 223 Pedestrian Safety Meeting Scheduled
Highway officials say the project will benefit elementary and middle school students in Upper Marlboro.

Design is under way for roadway and pedestrian safety improvements on MD 223 (Woodyard Road) in Prince George’s County for Melwood Elementary and James Madison Middle schools.
A public meeting to discuss the project will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the cafeteria at Melwood Elementary School, 7100 Woodyard Road in Upper Marlboro.
Proposed design elements include adding sidewalks on both sides of MD 223; replacing or relocating signs, crosswalk signals and pavement markings; stormwater and drainage improvements; and adding an acceleration/deceleration lane on northbound MD 223.
