MS-13 Member Gets Life In Prison For Murder Of Rival Gang Member

An MS-13 gang member from District Heights was sentenced to a life in prison for the murder of a rival gang member in 2013.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD — A 24-year-old MS-13 gang member from District Heights was sentenced to a life in prison Tuesday, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Stephen M. Schenning announced.

Jorge Moreno-Aguilar, aka “Flaco” and “Castigato" was convicted of multiple charges in connection with MS-13 gang activities, including conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise, murder in aid of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering.

Trial evidence shows in January 2013, Moreno-Aguilar and co-defendant Juan Alberto Ortiz-Orellana targeted an individual associated with the rival 18th Street gang. Moreno-Aguilar and Ortiz-Orellana obtained photos of the victim from Facebook and conspired with other MS-13 members to murder him, prosecutors said.

On March 12, 2013, Moreno-Aguilar and Ortiz-Orellana went to Capitol Heights and fatally shot the victim multiple times outside of his home.

Ortiz-Orellana, 29, of District Heights, was also sentenced to life in prison on December 1, 2016.
