New MGM Casino Will Bring Massive Traffic -- How Will PG County Deal With It?
PG County Police Chief Hank Stawinski is unveiling a transportation plan Wednesday evening.

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — We're just weeks away from the opening of MGM National Harbor, and the casino is sure to be one of the most talked about new venues in the Washington, D.C. area -- and that means lots and lots of traffic that Prince George's County Police will have to find some way to handle. Police Chief Hank Stawinski will be unveiling a plan on exactly how he plans to do that Wednesday night.
The opening night of MGM National Harbor on Dec. 8 is sure to be a jam-packed splashy affair, and just a few weeks later pop superstar Bruno Mars will be performing, so there are sure to be some big traffic headaches on the Beltway coming soon thanks to the new casino. Stawinski is inviting members of the community to drop by Friendly High School in Fort Washington, Md., to hear his draft MGM National Harbor Transportation plan.
"Chief Stawinski will be joined by officials from the Prince George’s County Government, MGM National Harbor and the Peterson Companies," according to a statement from the Prince George's County Police Department. "Members of the community will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback."
