Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Car: Police

The Riverdale man was hit by a car while trying to cross Kenilworth Avenue, according to Prince George's County Police.

A Riverdale man trying to cross Kenilworth Avenue outside a crosswalk was fatally struck by a car Monday night, police say.

The victim is Juan Samora-Sanchez, 54, of 55th Place in Riverdale, according to Prince George’s County Police.

Police were called to the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Madison Street in Riverdale Park for the collision about 6:15 p.m. Officers found Samora-Sanchez in the roadway suffering from critical injuries.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Samora-Sanchez was trying to cross Kenilworth Avenue – not within a crosswalk -- when a car struck him. The driver remained at the scene.
