PG County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor to Step Down
Bashoor announced Friday that he would finish out his six years at the top post on March 1.

SPRINGDALE, MD — Prince George's County Fire Chief Marc Bashoor will step down after six years on the job, Bashoor and County Executive Rushern Baker announced in a press conference Friday at St. Joe's Fire/EMS Station in Springdale.
Bashoor notified members of the department via email on Thursday evening. His retirement will be effective March 1.
"From hiring and volunteer recruitment, to ambulance billing and apparatus replacement, to community participation at many levels including on the Fire Commission, to the high school cadet program and our new Leadership Academy effort, we have met our challenges head-on, and I believe the organization as a whole, is better for it," he wrote in the letter. "We have a solid platform from which the Department will continue to grow."

A "seamless transition plan" is in the works, he added.
Bashoor first got involved with firefighting when he joined the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department in 1981, and gradually rose in the ranks to become chief.
