Phase Two Begins In Prince George's County; Here Is What's Open

Prince George's County is entering phase two of its coronavirus reopening plan, bringing with it a new wave of openings.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Prince George's County will enter phase two of its coronavirus reopening plan Monday at 5 p.m. Gyms, outdoor pools and shopping malls will now be able to reopen with capacity restrictions.

County Executive Angela Alsobrooks' executive order also allows day cares, places of worship and spas to open their doors. Amusement parks, like Six Flags America, and casinos, like MGM National Harbor, are now allowed to reopen with capacity restrictions.

Bars, nightclubs, theaters, concert venues, indoor pools, senior centers and county government buildings remain closed. The order also extended the county's state of emergency indefinitely.

Face coverings are still required inside stores, restaurants and busses. Children over 9 must wear a face covering. Children aged 2 through 9 are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings, though they are not required.

While gyms may reopen to the public, they must operate at less than 50 percent capacity. Gyms are only allowed to have one patron per 200 square feet.

Tattoo parlors and spas face the same restrictions. Customers must make an appointment to visit one of these businesses.

Outdoor pools, shopping malls and places of worship are all allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity. Places of worship may host outdoor gatherings of up to 250 people.

Amusement parks must operate at 40 percent capacity. Six Flags America will reopen to the public on Friday. Season pass holders can go to the park as early as Wednesday. All visitors must book an appointment to attend the park.

Casinos can operate at 50 percent capacity. MGM National Harbor reopened Monday morning.

Car washes are now allowed to offer interior cleaning. Social and fraternal clubs can also reopen at this time.

Restaurants are open, but at 50 percent of their indoor capacity. Restaurants may have outdoor seating, but they may not host more than 50 customers outside, regardless of how big their space is.

Small gatherings, with some restrictions, are now allowed. Gatherings, unless Alsobrooks notes otherwise in her order, may not exceed 100 people or one person per 100 square of space.
