Police Identify Victim in Accokeek Fatal Crash

A Waldorf man died Sunday in a two-car crash at Indian Head Highway at The Mall, Prince George's County Police say.

A Waldorf man died from injuries he suffered Sunday in a two-car crash in Accokeek, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

On Thursday police identified the victim as John Michael Rittenhouse, 60, of Bealle Hill Road in Waldorf.

The crash was reported about 1 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Indian Head Highway at The Mall. Police found Rittenhouse suffering from critical injuries; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second car suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities haven’t identified the second driver. No charges have been filed.

Investigators believe Rittenhouse tried to make a left turn into The Mall when he was hit by a car heading northbound on Indian Head Highway.
