Police Join TikTok Bandwagon, Give Safety Tips In Prince George's

Police joined TikTok, a trending social media platform, to keep Prince Georgians safe. Here's how it's going so far.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Police are hopping on the TikTok bandwagon. Most people use the growing platform to share videos of their trendy dances or funny challenges. The Prince George's County Police Department uses the app to keep locals safe and connect with the community.

The account posted its first video on Jan. 25. That clip reminded residents that thieves can quickly steal their car if they leave the keys inside. The department's most recent TikTok encouraged Prince Georgians to remove their valuables from their vehicle to prevent theft.

So far, PGPD's most popular video shows an officer exercising outside FedEx Field. That post has more than 14,500 views.

The account has shared three videos and accumulated nearly 21,000 views, 300 likes and 110 followers in its first week and a half. To check out the profile, search @pgpdnews on TikTok.
