Road Rage Shooting On I-495 Prompts Search For Suspect: Police
A driver fired three shots into a family's car on the Capital Beltway, police said. Authorities are searching for the road rage suspect.
WOODS CORNER, MD — Police said a driver fired three shots at a family's car Sunday on the ramp from southbound Interstate 495 to southbound Branch Avenue. The encounter seems like it was fueled by road rage, officers noted. Authorities added that they are still searching for the suspect who drove a silver Honda Civic with temporary Maryland tags.
Officials clarified that the encounter started when the Honda made an unsafe lane change around 3 p.m., forcing the victim to brake suddenly. Troopers explained that the victim then changed lanes, bringing him next to the Honda. The Honda driver then flashed the handgun and fired the shots into the victim’s Mazda 6, an incident report mentioned.
The damage suggests that two shots struck the rear driver's side door and another hit the rear driver's side window, police informed. Officers indicated that neither the victim, his wife in the front passenger seat, 15-year-old daughter in the back seat nor his 8-year-old daughter in the back seat were hurt.
