Couple's 2 Service Dogs Found Unharmed In Prince George's After Car Was Stolen By Teens

A Virginia couple's two service dogs were found unharmed in Prince George's County after the car they were in was stolen by teens in D.C.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Two service dogs riding in the back of a stolen car were rescued in Prince George's County. In a joint effort between Washington, D.C., police and Prince George's County Police, two 15-year-old boys were arrested in Prince George's County for the assault and theft.

According to police, the teens assaulted Jennet Inglis, who has autism, and stole her vehicle. Inglis told Fox 5 that the teens pushed her to the ground and wrestled her keys out of her hand. They then stole her vehicle, which was located in the 2000 block of 12th Street NW shortly after noon. She and her wife, who are from Virginia, were in D.C. for the day.

The dogs, a white and gray Shih Tzu named Lily and a black mini poodle named Sophie, were trapped inside the vehicle. Inglis told Fox 5 that several people nearby rushed to help her and try to stop the teens from taking off.

"All that comes back for me is this amazing display of humanity," Inglis told Fox5. "And I’m a spiritual person, so I just really, my heart knew that no one could harm our beautiful dogs. Who could do something like that? They’re such lovely little things."

Approximately 2.5 hours passed before the car was found after it had crashed into another vehicle, police told Inglis and her wife. She was treated at the hospital for injuries to her torso and hand. The 15-year-old boys are awaiting charges in Washington, D.C.
