Suspect Charged In Fatal Stabbing Of Lanham Woman Knew Victim: Prince George's Police
The suspect charged in the fatal stabbing of a Lanham woman had been in a relationship with her, according to Prince George's Police.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A Virginia man has been charged in connection to the fatal stabbing of a woman in her Lanham home Tuesday around 11 a.m. Police say they were previously in a relationship.
On April 9, Prince George's police officers were called to the 5600 block of Lanteen Street for a report of a stabbing. Officers found 47-year-old Wendolyn McKoy of Lanham in her home with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the police department.
The preliminary investigation indicates that 50-year-old Kevin Derr of Alexandria, Virginia, fatally stabbed McKoy during an argument. Then he ran off. The Prince George's Police Department's fugitive unit found Derr several hours later in Washington, D.C. He has been charged with first- and second-degree murder along with related charges.
If anyone has information relevant to the investigation, they are asked to call detectives at 301-516-2512.
