BOWIE, MD--While Giant Food stores offer convenient services and chain restaurants are plentiful, nothing beats a neighborhood coffee shop or family-owned hardware store.

Unfortunately, sometimes mom and pop can’t keep these shops open for one reason or another.

We asked Patch Readers in Bowie what extinct local business they’d bring back from the dead. Here’s a list of one-time favorites:
