PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A tow truck driver assisting with a broken down vehicle along I-95 has died after he was hit by a passing vehicle.

Around 12:10 p.m. Thursday, troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 North at Powder Mill Road. According to a preliminary investigation, the tow truck driver had stopped to help a driver whose 2009 Toyota Yaris had become disabled on the left shoulder of the road, according to the MSP.

While helping the driver of the 2009 Toyota Yaris, who was a 76-year-old woman, another driver - Hans Jurgen Gutierrez Samoya, 24, of Laurel in a 2016 Toyota Scion iA - sideswiped the broken down vehicle. Samoya then hit a third vehicle, a 2014 Honda Accord, which was then hit by a tractor trailer, the MSP reported.
