Virginia Man Charged With Murder in Suitland Shooting: Police

Charles Romain, 24, is facing extradition to Prince George's County after the death Tuesday of a District man.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A city man is facing murder charges in connection with a shooting Tuesday in Suitland, MD, that took the life of a Washington, D.C., man. Police in Prince George's County, MD, say the shooting may have been drug related.

Charles Romain, 24, was arrested Wednesday night by officers with the Alexandria Police Department and Sheriff's Office, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department. Romain, who lives on Madison Street in Alexandria, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, the police said.

At about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, Prince George's patrol officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 3900 block of Suitland Road. "When they arrived, they discovered the victim outside in a parking lot suffering from several gunshot wounds," the police said.

The victim, Lafeal Sinclair, 29, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. "Preliminarily, the motive appears to be a drug-related robbery," the police said.

Romain was being held Thursday in the Alexandria jail, awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
