Washington Redskins Drop $300,000 on PG County Schools

The "Ready for Work" initiative aims to help high schoolers get ready for college and a career.

OXON HILL, MD β€” The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation has announced a $300,000 investment in Ready for Work: Champions for Career and College Ready Graduates in Prince George’s County.

Ready for Work is an initiative aimed at creating "long-term systematic change" to help graduates in Prince George's County become successful adults who will give back to their community and continue the cycle, according to a statement.

"The Redskins and Venture Philanthropy Partners both believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. We are proud to partner with VPP to invest in the dreams of young people," Redskins owner Dan Snyder in a statement.

Ready for Work aims to raise $15 million over a six-year period. By 2021, officials hope to get 2,775 students at Suitland, Oxon Hill and High Point high schools ready for college and a career, and get another 400 graduates in the pipeline every year after that.
