WEATHER WARNING: More Snow on Way for Bowie

Snow is in the forecast Monday and Tuesday, according to National Weather Service.

Bowie is under a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. Monday to noon Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Between 6 and 10 inches of snow may fall between Monday night and Tuesday morning, according to the warning.

The heaviest snow will be Monday night, the weather service reported.

Prince George’s County Public Schools are closed Monday for Presidents’ Day, which is a federal holiday.

Prince George’s County will activate personnel and contract services at 3 p.m. Monday in preparation for the snow and frigid temperatures. About 250 vehicles will monitor and plow the primary and major collector roadways first, and then will move into the residential areas.

Residents are asked to park on the even-numbered sides of residential streets or in their driveways. Residents should also shovel their driveways after plowing has occurred and remove snow/ice from the sidewalks abutting their homes and businesses.

Temperatures will be in the teens and low 20s, according to the weather service.

A winter storm warning means heavy snow is anticipated or occurring, and travel conditions will be difficult. Roads will become snow-covered and slippery, and visibility may be limited to less than a half mile.

During the warning period, the weather service says people should only travel in an emergency and should be sure to have a flashlight, blanket, food and water in their vehicles.

  • Anne Arundel County
  • Prince George’s County
  • Montgomery County
  • District of Columbia
  • Parts of northern and central Virginia
  • Part of West Virginia
