Where Should Bowie Be Headed?
Residents are urged to attend two meetings to share their ideas and goals with the City Council.

Community meetings will be held in the next two weeks where you can share your views.
- Saturday, March 12, 9:30 a.m. - noon at the Kenhill Center, 2614 Kenhill Drive
- Thursday, March 17, 7 - 9:30 p.m. at Pointer Ridge Elementary School, 1110 Parkington Lane
The City of Bowie’s strategic plan is being formulated with the help of a consultant who specializes in working with local governments.

The final product will include goals to help the council decide where to focus its attention and city resources. It will also include development of measurable objectives and tactics to help the city achieve its goals.
Community input is critical to this process, officials said in a news release. The City Council last adopted a strategic plan in 2005. The goals at that time included enhanced police services, no school enrollments over 100 percent of capacity, and controlled annexation.

The city is also developing a sustainability plan to ensure that it moves forward in an environmentally responsible, economically fair manner. While the sustainability plan and the strategic plan are being developed in separate processes, officials say the two plans will be complementary and that sustainability goals will be incorporated into the city’s overall strategic plan.
