Brightview Hosts Dementia Expert for Educational Seminar

The free seminar for families and caregivers will be held on Thursday, October 29 at 6:00pm at 848 South Rolling Road in Catonsville.

Brightview Rolling Hills, a popular senior living community in Catonsville, will host dementia expert Dr. Patrick Doyle, PhD for an educational seminar, titled Dementia Reconsidered: Empathy and the Pursuit of Happiness.

The free seminar for families, friends and caregivers will be held on Thursday, October 29 at 6:00 pm at the community – located at 848 South Rolling Road.

A skilled and experienced researcher and educator in the field of gerontology and dementia care, Dr. Doyle will offer a better understanding of what someone with dementia actually goes through and ways to connect with the person inside to improve their sense of purpose and self-esteem.

Brightview’s Corporate Director of Dementia Care, Dr. Doyle is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

“Serving as a resource for older adults, families, caregivers and others in the community is important to us,” notes Deanna Lawrence, Executive Director. “And partnering with Dr. Doyle and sharing his expertise and knowledge with the community is exciting.”

“Working together, we create moments of joy for families, friends and caregivers of people living with dementia and other forms of memory impairments,” concludes Deanna.

Brightview Rolling Hills features Independent Living and Assisted Living apartment homes and a Wellspring Village® neighborhood dedicated to dementia and Alzheimer’s care. The community opened in April, 2015.
