Caregiver Speaker Series with Dementia Experts for Families, Friends and Caregivers of People Living with Dementia

The free, interactive series will be held on Wednesdays at 6:30pm at Brightview Rolling Hills, 848 S. Rolling Road.

Brightview Rolling Hills, a popular senior living community in Catonsville, Maryland, is hosting an educational Speaker Series at the community, located at 848 South Rolling Road.

The free, interactive series for families, friends and caregivers of people living with dementia or memory loss
will be held on the third Wednesday of every month at the community at 6:30pm through November.

The educational series will resume in January 2017.

More than 5 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, one of many forms of dementia. As the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, last year more than 15 million caregivers provided an
estimated 18.1 billion hours of unpaid care.

The series kicks off on Wednesday, September 21 with “Research Update” with Andrea Nelson, RN, Director of Memory Care Programs at John Hopkins Bayview and Gwenn Smith, PhD, Director of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry at Johns Hopkins University.

Alex Lupis, PhD, psychologist at Counterpoint Behavioral Health presents “Diagnosing and Treating
Non-Alzheimer’s Dementia on Wednesday, October 19.

And, on Wednesday, November 16, Marina Nellius, Wellspring Village Director at Brightview Rolling Hills, presents “Dementia Caregiving 101: Strategies and Practical Tips for Families and Caregivers.”

“We value our role as a resource for older adults, families, caregivers and others in the community,” explains
Deanna Lawrence, Executive Director at Brightview Rolling Hills.

“Everyone benefits when we work together,” she adds.

Brightview Rolling Hills offers Independent Living, Assisted Living and Wellspring Village®, Brightview’s
specialized program and environment for people living with dementia and other memory
impairments. The community opened in April 2015.
