Charlestown August 5 Mini-Triathlon to Celebrate Rio Summer Olympics

Resident and Staff to Complete 2 Laps in the Pool, ½ Mile on the NuStep and ½ Mile on the Cycle Bike.

WHAT:

A Friday, August 5 (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.) intergenerational Summer Olympics/Memory Fitness Mini-Triathlon by more than 100 residents and staff of Charlestown retirement community in Catonsville, MD, to celebrate the start of the Rio Summer Olympics Games.

A total of 24 teams (each comprised of two residents and one staff member) will complete 2 laps in the pool, ½ mile on the NuStep and ½ mile on the Cycle Bike. Each person on each team will also perform a cognitive task at the same time they are exercising.

This Mini-Triathlon will improve strength, cardiovascular capacity, cognitive functioning and flexibility by participants.

The carrying of an Olympics Torch will kick-off the games. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to winners at the conclusion of the games.
