Charlestown Pie Baking/Shelf Decorating Event Raises $1,800 for Local Charities
Turkey (aka Wendel Thompson) Brings Desserts and Silliness to Festivities

CATONSVILLE, MD (November 18, 2016) – The Charlestown retirement community Fitness Center today hosted a Pie Baking/Shelf Decorating Contest fundraiser for Thanksgiving. This event raised $1,800 for Southwest Emergency Services and The Marian House.
Southwest Emergency Services provides a food pantry and financial aid (for anything from eviction/foreclosure, prescription assistance, emergency utilities, and much more) to clients needing assistance.
The Marian House offers high-quality rehabilitative services and housing to homeless women and their children.

Everyone enjoyed tasting delicious pies made by staff from Charlestown’s departments. Photos of shelves decorated by residents were displayed.

A special thank you to balloon artist extraordinaire Robbie Furman for making seven ballooned Turkey table arrangements. The winners of the balloon turkeys were: Norma Gunkel, Louise Cuneo, Rose Sands, Kosta Viennas, Arlene Sullivan, Henry Wehland, and Peggy Budzyna.
