Charlestown Sluggers Show Enthusiasm, Determination in Mid-Atlantic Softball Tournament

Teams From Four Retirement Communities Compete in Double-Elimination Contest

CATONSVILLE, MD (June 12, 2016) – Charlestown June 8 hosted a Mid-Atlantic double-elimination softball tournament that included teams from four retirement communities. The teams consisted of home team Charlestown, Greenspring (Springfield, VA) , Riderwood (Silver Spring, MD) and Oak Crest (Parkville, MD) .

The Charlestown Sluggers came out with great enthusiasm and determination to try to beat the returning opponents. The Sluggers practiced two days per week for the past two months to prepare for this challenge. Alas, the Sluggers came up short, as the final scores below indicate:

Oak Crest defeated Charlestown, 15-1.

Riderwood defeated Greenspring, 7-6.

Greenspring defeated Charlestown, 14-3.

Oak Crest defeated Riderwood, 7-5, to take home the coveted Erickson Living Trophy.
