Diane Winn's Pastel Portraits Now on Exhibit in The Gallery at Charlestown

CATONSVILLE, MD (July 6, 2016) -- The pastel paintings of Diane Winn, the majority of which are portraits that capture the unique personalities of people, are now on exhibit through July in The Gallery at Charlestown retirement community, 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville.

Winn started drawing as a young girl, studying art extensively in high school. She later did botanical illustrations at the Smithsonian and worked as a medical illustrator at Johns Hopkins.

She is presently focused on portraiture, taking commissions for her art.

Winn spent four years in Ghana in the 1960s where she created portraits of the Ashanti King and his family. These paintings are included in the exhibit in The Gallery.

Winn, a medical researcher, has worked for decades on plant medicines in Ghana to treat many diseases. She is currently involved in efforts to bring a product made from the root of a plant which has been traditionally used to cure malaria to the African, American and world markets.
