EPIK Kids in Action - Summer Backpack Drive.

School's out for summer.

Summer break from school is usually a great time for kids! Vacations, time to relax, fun with friends, playing in the sand, watching movies, laying on the couch watching TV.

What if you don't have a couch or even a home during the summer?

For an increasing amount of Baltimore area children who are homeless, summer is the hardest part of the year. During the school year they have school to attend, but during the summer months their unfortunate living situations is even more challenging.

Camp Learn N’ Play provides a safe place for 65 elementary & middle school age campers who mainly live in the 21216 zip code of Baltimore city. Most of them attend Belmont, Rosemont, and Matthew Henson elementary schools. This area in Baltimore that is marked by crime and poverty which affect the learning environment. During camp the children are provided a healthy breakfast and lunch each day from the Baltimore City Summer Food program. They also participate daily in 1 hour of academic review, a positive Character Education and a Mentoring program, a youth chorus, a weekly fitness program, swimming and field trips.

"We bus them in from area shelters and transitional housing, and they spend from 9 to 3:30 with us every day. We do meals and recreational time throughout the day,"

In between those meals is where things get tricky. The camp relies on donated snacks and currently has many mouths to feed and a pretty empty pantry.

At the start of the summer break, EPIK Kids in Action did a supply drive for the camp. We reached out to our community and asked for donations ranging from snacks to bathing suits.

Every little thing helped.

We had our EPIK Kids drop the donations off.

But Summer camp ends in mid August

Here at EPIK Home Group we fully appreciate how fortunate we are and how important it is to help out community. By supporting EPIK Kids In Action with every settlement, we We are thinking ahead to the school year after the summer break and the students who could use some support!

EPIK Kids in Action - Summer Backpack Drive. Can you help too?

We would like to collaborate with our community, clients and associates and collect 65 new backpacks filled with school supplies. Items such as pencils, pens, erasers, paper, marble & spiral notebooks, glue sticks, folders, binders & dividers, rulers, clip-boards, scissors, crayons, markers, & colored pencils will be game changers for some of the children that may not have these essentials without our help.

This is your chance to join EPIK Home Group & EPIK KIDS IN ACTION in helping make a difference in the life of a school aged child this summer and into the school year.

NO DONATION WILL BE TOO SMALL. Even if you can only afford to donate one of the items on the list, it will help fill a back pack. If you would rather donate money, please make out the check to EPIK Kids In Action.

AS OF JANUARY 1ST 2016, EPIK Home Group of Keller Williams Realty Centre will donate 2.5% of every commission check to “EPIK Kids in Action” Foundation. The more homes we sell, the more money we can donate to “EPIK Kids in Action“. Our goal for 2016 is 200 homes. The 100th home sale we will donate 100% of the commission. If we hit our lofty goal of 200 homes we will donate 200% of the commission.
