Going Behind the Scenes in Recycling

Charlestown's Housekeeping Staff Tours Jessup Facility

CATONSVILLE, MD (May 11, 2016) -- Some of the Housekeeping staff responsible for Charlestown retirement community recycling projects today visited the main recycling plant in Jessup, MD, for a tour of the facility. The one- hour tour included a video and Q&A session.

The staff got to see the single-stream process and learned what happens to cans, newspapers, boxes, etc., that are recycled once they leave the retirement community.

Charlestown each year recycles about 280 tons of items that come from residents, employee offices and the dining department.
