LGBT Awareness Event to be Held at Charlestown on June 28
Screening of "Gen Silent" Film and a Panel Discussion are Scheduled

CATONSVILLE, MD – Charlestown retirement community residents and staff on Wednesday, June 28, will learn more about the intergenerational LGBT community during an event featuring the screening of the film “Gen Silent” followed by a panel discussion. This event will be held from 10 a.m. – noon in the Auditorium.
The film documents Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people who fought the early battles for equality. And even though progress has been made, some still face the fear of discrimination, bullying and abuse, causing them to hide their lives in order to survive as they age.
Panelists will be Greg Mazzeo, Charlestown Assistant Dining Manager; Ray Miles, Charlestown resident and former Church Choir Director; Dr. Craig Thorne, Erickson Living Vice President and Medical Director, Employee Health and Wellness; Ian Brown, Erickson Living Vice President of Organizational Development; and Sherry Parrish, Charlestown Resident Life Director. The panel will be moderated by Mel Tansill, Erickson Living Communication Manager.
This event is sponsored by Charlestown’s Diversity and Inclusion Council in observance of June LGBT Pride - Awareness Month.
Charlestown is managed by Erickson Living.
