Students Play a Chess Match with Charlestown Residents
Every Game Served as an Opportunity to Learn

CATONSVILLE, MD (January 16, 2017) -- Students from Cross Country Elementary and Middle School and the Carver School, ages 7-16, today played an afternoon chess match with members of Charlestown retirement community’s Chess Club. This competition helped the students prepare for their future chess tournaments.
Playing chess with Charlestown residents gave the students a chance to learn from more seasoned chess players. Every game of chess played served as an opportunity to learn.
Whether through conversation or the art of observation, the students obtained information that they might have never otherwise known. Charlestown's residents have a wealth of knowledge and interesting stories to share and playing chess with the youth is one way to get their stories told.
