Man Found Dead On Route 40 Was Murder Suspect: Police

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — After a body was found near US 40 Sunday night, authorities say they are classifying the case as a suspicious death.

The man had suffered traumatic injuries, according to officials, who said Monday that the medical examiner was conducting an autopsy to provide more information about what happened.

Officers found the man in the 5200 block of Baltimore National Pike/US 40 Sunday. He was lying on the ground in the parking lot behind a building and was pronounced deceased at 7:52 p.m., police reported.

City police said Monday that the man was the suspect in the death of his wife, who was pregnant and found deceased outside St. Agnes Hospital. That case is under investigation through the Baltimore Police Department, which is working with the Baltimore County Police Department on the case.

Deron Deandre Barnes, 34, of the 4800 block of Claybury Avenue, was believed to have died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound after leaving his wife in a vehicle at the hospital, according to Baltimore Police Chief of Media Relations T.J. Smith.
