The Swallowing Disorders Research by Charlestown's Dr. Cathy Pelletier is Cited in More Than 400 New Publications
She was Appointed the First Speech-Language Pathologist to Serve as Consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General
CATONSVILLE, MD (December 14, 2016) -- The swallowing disorders research work by Cathy Pelletier, PhD, MS, CCC-SLP, who is the Rehabilitation Manager at Charlestown retirement community, has been cited in more than 400 new publications, according to ResearchGate, a company that monitors author publication. Dr. Pelletier’s research examines the role that taste plays in swallowing disorders.
Dr. Pelletier earned her PhD from Cornell University in Food Science, specializing in Sensory Evaluation. She is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, and ASHA Fellow (one of the highest honors awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association).
Prior to coming to Charlestown, Dr. Pelletier was Chief of Speech-Language Pathology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. While there she was appointed the first speech-language pathologist to serve as Consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General.
