UMBC Celebrates Homecoming 2014!

UMBC Athletics helps the campus celebrate Homecoming, ’14 with a variety of athletic contests, alumni games and gatherings and other events this weekend. For the complete schedule, log onto http://homecoming.umbc.edu/.


After the volleyball team opens varsity competition on Friday by hosting UMass Lowell (5:00 p.m.) in America East Conference competition, the Retriever Rally kicks Homecoming into high gear on Friday evening. Pack the RAC and show your Retriever Pride! Tons of freebies, food, t-shirts, games, and the introduction of this year’s basketball teams should get the crowd going! Doors open at 9 p.m.

The Sixth Annual 5K Dawg Chase will be held on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and registration opens at 8 a.m. at the Stadium Lot.

The run around the Loop, in honor of the late men’s track alumnus Rob Magin ’92, kicks off Saturday’s Homecoming festivities.
The lacrosse programs hold their alumni games at 10 a.m. (women) and 11 a.m. (men) at UMBC Stadium.

The varsity programs then take the stage, as swimming opens its 2014-15 campaign vs. Rider (1:00 p.m.) and the men’s soccer team plays a rematch of the 2013 title game when Hartford visits Retriever Soccer Park at 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, both women’s soccer (Maine) and volleyball (UNH) compete against America East foes at 1:00 p.m.
